Palmers Music History

The story of Palmer’s Music began when Oril Williams (O.W.) came down with rheumatic fever at the age of 10. A doctor prescribed playing a woodwind instrument to aid in his recovery, and thus, the love affair began...

O.W. played piccolo in the Army during World War I and continued his musical journey after 1920 by joining the Barnum and Bailey Circus, where he also learned to play the tenor saxophone. When he and his colleagues needed their instruments repaired, O.W. took matters into his own hands and mastered the art of instrument repair. His dedication to music and craftsmanship became a defining part of his legacy, fostering a lifelong connection to the instruments and the melodies they created.

O.W. passed his craft down to his son Earl, who then taught Kevin, and Kevin shared it with Matthew. Today, Kevin is retired but still enjoys staying connected to the craft by working on occasional repairs at Palmer’s Music. Meanwhile, Matthew continues to build on the Palmer family legacy, ensuring their passion for woodwind and brass instruments thrives for future generations.
